Let’s Send Love and Support to our Friends

by Jenny Chissus

I received an update that Mary’s daughters are together in Anchorage and that Chuck is recovering in the hospital.  He continues to undergo surgeries to address his many broken bones.  It will be a long healing process, both physically and emotionally as he recovers from this terrible accident.

If you would like to send a card or thoughts their way, the addresses for Chuck and Mary’s daughters are listed below. Mary was loved by many in Seldovia and will be sorely missed.  We will continue to keep Chuck and the rest of the family in our thoughts and prayers.

The community sends our thoughts and prayers to the many friends and family of past Seldovia resident Mary Gillick, who passed away as a result of a car accident on the Seward Highway yesterday, November 11, 2012.

Mary’s husband Chuck, is being treated at a hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Our prayers go out to Chuck and his family, and our thoughts go out for his care and healing.

Welcome A New “Little Cameron” to Seldovia!

Seldovia wants to welcome Wyatt Eugene Cameron into the world and to the community of Seldovia!  Proud parents, Jordan Cameron and Cassidi Little expressed their joy to me in this way:

“Wyatt Eugene Cameron came into our lives at 3:23 this morning…..weighing 7lbs 9 ounces, 20-1/2 inches. Absolutely beautiful. Labor was quick, Jordan was an awesome partner to share this with. Feeling so much love this morning. We feel absolutely humbled and amazed. Holden is excited to meet his little brother as he is going to be awesome in his new role as big brother.   He is staying in Seldovia with his dad until we come home, hopefully on the Sunday ferry.”

Pretty amazing, as Cassidi exclaimed:  “Holden was born on 4th of July, and Wyatt was born on Alaska Day!!!! What a patriotic pair!”

Wyatt is welcomed by a very large family!  Wyatt’s middle name, Eugene is in honor of his great grandpa Gene Cameron who passed away in November of 2010.  Wyatt’s living great grandparents include Jordan’s grandparents: Kathy Cameron of Seldovia and Jean & Wayne Stamper of Portland, Oregon  – Cassidi’s grandparents: Walt & Norma Forsea of Richland Oregon.  Of course, Wyatt’s Grandpa Curtis Cameron & Patty Stamper of Seldovia, Auntie Adrian Cameron of Arco, Idaho and don’t forget uncle Conner Cameron who also lives here in Seldovia! Nana Niki Hutchinson & Lloyd Kalblinger of Garden Valley, Papa Bill Hutchinson & Grandma Cherie Barton of Kuna, Idaho along with Uncle Cody Hutchinson of Meridian, Idaho who is serving a tour in Afghanistan of whom the family is so proud. Wyatt has a very large extended family!

Cassidi wanted to express her sincere thanks for all of Seldovia’s support!  “We love Seldovia for this exact reason, the extension of love and support.”  They are so looking forward to getting home and gathering their whole family together in their lovely home overlooking Seldovia Bay!

Seldovia welcomes little Cory David Tucker, weighing in at 6 pounds 15 ounces and measuring 18.5 inches, born to Paula Elvsaas and Tyler Tucker, both of Seldovia on September 30 @ 10:16pm. Cory will be welcomed home by his big sister, Gavin S. Elvsaas.

Cory is the proud Great Grandson of Fred H. Elvsaas and Gladys M Yuth both of Seldovia.   Grandson to Tina Yuth and Sandee Elvsaas of Seldovia and David B. Tucker of Oregon, and Fred S. Elvsaas of Anchorage.  Cory has a list a mile long of aunts, uncles and cousins, many of whom reside in Seldovia!   There is a huge family to welcome him home, from the Hallers, Yuths, Whites and Elvsaas’s.

Mom, Dad and Cory are all doing great (just catching up on some sleep this morning) and hope to be home on Tuesday’s ferry.

Freddie Newmeyer – February 29, 1928 – September 18, 2012
